Manufacturing Sector Leads In Billionaire Creation Over The Last Decade
According to the Knight Frank Wealth Report, the manufacturing sector has produced the most billionaires in the past decade. The report, which highlights the top 10 industries that generated the highest number of new billionaires from 2014 to 2024, reveals that manufacturing topped the list with 509 new billionaires. This surge was driven by global industrial growth, while the Food & Beverage sector also saw a significant increase, adding 277 new billionaires due to evolving consumer preferences….READ MORE….
However, in terms of total wealth value, the technology sector dominated. Although technology produced 443 new billionaires, their collective wealth experienced the most substantial growth, tripling from $788.9 billion in 2015 to $2.4 trillion in 2024. This remarkable increase was fueled by advancements in artificial intelligence, fintech, and e-commerce. Notably, nine tech billionaires each amassed wealth exceeding $50 billion, a figure unmatched by any other industry.
Other sectors that significantly contributed to billionaire creation during this period include Finance & Investments (353 billionaires), driven by stock market gains and cryptocurrency; Fashion & Retail (318), benefiting from e-commerce and luxury brand popularity; and Healthcare (284), propelled by innovations in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.
Additionally, the Real Estate sector (228) saw growth due to urbanization and high-value property investments, while the Diversified sector (206) profited from involvement in multiple industries. Media & Entertainment (110) thrived with the rise of streaming services and digital platforms, and the Automotive industry (101) expanded with advancements in electric vehicles and autonomous technology.
The report emphasizes that rapid technological progress, changing consumer habits, and global economic transformations have significantly influenced the billionaire landscape. As innovation continues, new sectors may emerge as leading sources of wealth creation in the coming decade.
