Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has accused the embattled factional National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nafiu Bala, of monetising his conscience. According to Ireporter Online, Melaye made the claim during an interview on ARISE Television, highlighting Bala’s involvement in the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, where the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ratified the leadership of Interim National Chairman David Mark, Rauf Aregbesola, and other officials.

Melaye noted that the NEC meeting, held on July 29, 2025, was attended by Bala and monitored by INEC, before Bala later approached the courts on September 2, 2025. He said, “On July 29, 2025, we had a NEC meeting that Nafiu was present at. In that meeting, the leadership of Aregbesola, David Mark, and others were ratified. INEC was also present at that meeting.”

He added that the party officially notified INEC in August that David Mark and Aregbesola had assumed their leadership positions, with INEC confirming receipt of the notification. Melaye stressed that from May 29, 2025, David Mark legitimately became the National Chairman, as the NEC is the party’s highest decision-making body. He further stated that Nafiu Bala resigned on May 17, 2025, yet later sought legal recourse, despite the official ratification of Mark’s leadership prior to September.
