Minimum Wage: Half Agbado Is Better Than None, Shehu Sani On NLC Strike-Suspension

Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has expressed support for the suspension of the nationwide strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC).

Reacting to the development, Sani highlighted the positive aspect of the decision, stating, “The suspension of the strike to make room for continued negotiations is ok. Half agbado is better than none,” in a post on X.

Earlier, the Labour Union announced that the suspension was intended to facilitate uninterrupted meetings with the tripartite committee on the new national minimum wage. This decision came after a meeting on Monday between the union and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, along with other government officials.

During the meeting, SGF Akume reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to a new minimum wage higher than N60,000.
