Mob Lynches Young Man Over Missing TV Set In Otukpo, Benue
A disturbing incident unfolded in Otukpo, Benue State, as a young man named Okibe Otsapa was brutally lynched by an enraged mob following accusations of stealing a television set from a local beer joint. According to reports, the deceased was accused of theft by one Mr. Owoicho George Adama, also known as Owie Banker, who claimed to have used a “magical bible” to identify Otsapa as the culprit. Allegations suggest that Otsapa was summoned to the beer joint by Adama and subsequently beaten to death by a group of hoodlums under Adama’s influence.
In a petition addressed to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, by Napoleon Chambers, the gruesome details of Otsapa’s murder were outlined, with accusations leveled against Adama for orchestrating the fatal assault. The petition paints a chilling picture of lawlessness and impunity, with Adama reportedly boasting of his connections to influential politicians and his reliance on his “magical bible” for judgment.
Senator Abba Moro, representing Benue South Senatorial District and serving as Senate Minority Leader, swiftly condemned the heinous act of jungle justice. He urged the community to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and emphasized the importance of handing suspects over to the authorities for proper investigation and prosecution.
