Ramat’s crime involved collecting N4.5 million from several job seekers in 2020, promising them employment with the ICPC and National Air Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA).

Evidence presented in court revealed that she fraudulently forged the letterhead of the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President and Abba Kyari’s signature, requesting the recruitment of three individuals by the ICPC. However, Kyari’s office disclaimed authorizing the letter.

In delivering the sentence, Justice Muhammad convicted Ramat on counts of cheating and forgery, but discharged her on a felony charge. She received a six-month jail term or N100,000 fine for counts related to cheating and a one-year imprisonment or N150,000 fine for forgery. The judge considered her status as a first-time offender and mother during sentencing.
