Mourning In Nigeria As Aisha Dies, El-Rufai Visits Buhari

Aisha Bello Mustapha, a news anchor at the Nigeria Television Authority, has passed away.

The demise of the veteran broadcaster was reported early on Monday, with BBC Pidgin noting that she succumbed to a brief illness in Abuja.

A prominent figure on the local television network during the 1990s and 2000s, Aisha’s death was confirmed by a family friend, Zainab Sabo. The friend further mentioned that the late broadcaster would be laid to rest later in the day in accordance with Islamic rites.

“The funeral prayer will take place at Abuja Central Mosque on Monday.

“Mama (Aisha) is indeed dead, and we are going to miss her, and we pray God bless her soul,” Zainab tells BBC Pidgin.

The specific details regarding the cause of her death are currently undisclosed.

Having concluded a 35-year-long career in the broadcast industry, the late journalist retired from active service in May 2022.

El-Rufai Visits Buhari In Daura, Katsina (PHOTOS)

On Monday, Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, paid a courtesy visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.

Muyiwa Adekeye, the Special Adviser on Media and Communication to the former governor, posted pictures from the visit on his social media account on Monday.

Adekeye stated that El-Rufai’s recent visit to Buhari marks the first encounter between the two since their departure from office on May 29, 2023. The former governor was accompanied to Daura by several former aides, including his former Honorary Adviser, Jimi Lawal, and Hafiz Bayero, the former administrator of the Kaduna Capital Development Authority.

Buhari and El-Rufai, both members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in power, concluded their terms in May this year, each having served eight years in their respective offices.
