When questioned on who he believes holds the title of the best player, Nadal responded, “The numbers say yes, for me yes (he is the best in history).”
Djokovic currently boasts 24 Grand Slam titles, surpassing Nadal’s tally of 22 after clinching the French Open title last year.
Despite Djokovic’s remarkable success on the court, the Serbian world number one continues to face challenges in garnering widespread popularity off the court.
Nadal remarked, “The image he projects is worse than he really is; I think he’s a good person,” acknowledging that Djokovic’s occasional displays of frustration are outweighed by his resilience and determination on the court.
Reflecting on his own career, Nadal, who has been plagued by injuries and missed a significant portion of 2023, expressed admiration for young Spanish talent Carlos Alcaraz. At just 20 years old, Alcaraz has already claimed two major titles.
Nadal praised Alcaraz, describing him as an exceptionally talented and well-rounded player without the weaknesses he faced at the same age, foreseeing a remarkable career ahead for the young Spaniard.
