Onanuga’s comment comes after Bloomberg highlighted an unusual period of stability for the Naira, with analysts expressing hope that this trend might continue. Despite the Naira’s significant depreciation—losing 70% of its value against the dollar since 2023 due to relaxed foreign exchange controls—Onanuga emphasized that the recent stability is good news for Nigeria. He challenged Peter Obi to retweet the story, calling it “exciting.”

In contrast, Casmir Agbo, Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Enugu State, defended Obi, urging critics to stop attacking the former governor over his statements about Nigeria’s challenges. Agbo warned that any harm to Obi would have serious consequences for the country. He criticized the reactions from the All Progressives Congress (APC) as undermining true democracy in Nigeria and likened it to the activism Tinubu showed during the military era.
