Native Doctor’s Home Collapse Claims 14 Lives, Including Wife And Patients

Alabi, a local psychiatric doctor, narrowly escaped death. He was outside the house when the building suddenly collapsed. Now hospitalized at Mercyland Hospital, Alabi shared his grief over the tragic loss, recalling how there were no signs of structural issues before the collapse.
He stated, “The incident happened without warning, and there were no cracks in the building. Only God knows the cause of this tragedy.”
Alabi revealed that his clinic also served as a rehabilitation center for psychiatric patients, some of whom were nearing recovery. Tragically, nine of them perished in the collapse, alongside his first wife, aged about 70. Alabi, over 80 years old, is now homeless and appealing for support from Nigerians.
His sister, Jelilatu Olapade, confirmed that the building had no structural problems and explained that some family members narrowly escaped the collapse, while the children who perished were asleep on the ground floor when the building came down.
