The Commander of the Base, Navy Captain Wasuku Alushi, revealed that the illegal refineries were pinpointed through aerial surveillance, showcasing the Navy’s advanced strategies in combating criminal operations.
Captain Alushi emphasized that the operation aligns with the Navy’s commitment to curbing various criminal activities, including kidnapping, crude oil theft, and illegal bunkering prevalent in the coastal areas of Ondo State.
Highlighting the challenges posed by the intricate riverine terrain, Captain Alushi reiterated the Navy’s multi-pronged approach to tackle criminal enterprises effectively. This approach includes apprehending perpetrators during the act, deactivating illegal refineries, and dismantling their infrastructure to deter future attempts at reactivation.
