The Super Eagles, Nigeria’s three-time African champions, have been placed in Pot 1, positioning them to avoid formidable teams such as Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Cote d’Ivoire.
Head Coach Éric Sékou Chelle, Team Administrator Dayo Enebi Achor, and the Chairman of the NFF Technical and Development Committee, Alhaji Sharif Rabiu Inuwa, will represent the Super Eagles at the draw ceremony in Morocco’s capital.
This tournament, which begins on December 21 and concludes on January 18, will be historic as it is the first AFCON to span two consecutive years. Morocco will host the event once again, last doing so in 1988 when Cameroon emerged victorious. Morocco was also set to host the 2015 finals but withdrew due to the Ebola outbreak.

- Pot 2: Cameroon, Mali, Tunisia, South Africa, DR Congo, Burkina Faso
- Pot 3: Gabon, Angola, Zambia, Uganda, Equatorial Guinea, Benin Republic
- Pot 4: Mozambique, Comoros, Tanzania, Sudan, Zimbabwe, Botswana
