Nigeria Decides : Esan In Strategic Trajectory With Maj Gen Cecil Esekhaigbe (Rtd)

The Presidential and National Assembly elections that were held as part of the first round of the general elections have been concluded. Since then, the President-elect and other lawmakers who would shape our future have emerged across the Federation.

Although the elections confirmed the popularity of candidates and the reality that all politics is local, they also underlined the necessity of credibility and acceptance, since Nigerians are more wiser now.

The unprecedented conduct of this election, which was engineered by the CBN to deprive politicians of cash to wage effective campaigns, has shed greater light on the capacity of grassroots leaders who are in direct contact with their people and hence command their respect.

Edo State, which would not be holding its gubernatorial elections like other states, nonetheless managed to be at the top of the headlines on a regular basis throughout the build-up to this election.

The Edo Central Senatorial District of the state  had its own particular set of election experiences, not only springing lovely surprises but also turning into a ray of hope for the future of the nation’s heart beat.

Major General Cecil Osolease Esekhaigbe (Rtd.), PhD is a notable grassroots politician and leader whose electoral manoeuvres not only had an impact on the APC’s win but also piqued our interest.

According to his vast and impressive CV, the former military general has a long history of military expertise and professionalism. In the last presidential and senatorial district elections, he served as a fulcrum for the APC.

He was more than just a complaint to the Emiefele Mischief of Cash Crunch campaigns as his grassroots credibility was more than just a trust for the people to vote for the APC. He has continued to uphold that incredible bond with his people, and this has assisted in propelling the party as the leaders for the first time in Esan land.

Not only has Major General Cecil distinguished himself in the military, but he has also held key positions in the APC’s leadership, including Chairman of the Governorship screening committee in Kebbi State, member of the Governorship primaries in Lagos State, and Director General of the APC’s gubernatorial campaign in Edo State in 2020.

Lest I forget, he is still a well-respected and well-known philanthropist and gentleman.
