However, after thorough investigation, it was determined that the video does not depict Nigerian troops crossing into Niger. Instead, it portrays refugees fleeing El Geneina, a city in West Darfur, Sudan.

This incident took place in mid-June 2023 when civilians in El Geneina faced an attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) group amidst the ongoing civil war in Sudan. The video has been circulating online since at least June 2023.

In summary, the video in question showcases refugees from El Geneina in West Darfur, Sudan, and is unrelated to the claimed event of Nigerian troops crossing the border into Niger in August 2023.
