Nigerian’s Perception Of Good Governance

Governance being the act of overseeing the control and direction of a country or an organization could either be good or bad. It is for this reason that an idea or a perception of what Governance should be like emerges as a necessity because the quality of a nation’s Governance is solely determined by the way the nation thinks.

A larger number of Nigerians regard Governance as a pass from one to another in rotation game, interchanging from ethnicity bias to religious sentiments, rather than effective leadership skills. It is in this regard that the country endures regression.
Good Governance in a democratic system of government such as ours should entail a potent constitution that oversees the urgencies of its nation, as well as instill a mindset on both electorates and leaders that diligent patriotism should be the ultimate goal.
Hence tribalism, all forms of ethnicity bias as well as religious sentiments should not be a criterion to choose a good leader. Our focus should rather be on outstanding qualities such as transparency, forbearance, intellectual prowess, skillful diplomacy, visionary outlook, perspective policy-making and zealousness.
