NSCDC Commander Slain By Bandits In Benue

Tragedy struck in Benue State as gunmen suspected to be bandits reportedly killed a commander of the agro ranger unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). Nicholas Ode, a relative of the deceased, revealed that Mike Ode was brutally slain in Shaapera village during a confrontation with the herdsmen. He recounted that while the NSCDC officers managed to neutralize up to 10 of the bandits during the exchange of gunfire, Mike Ode was tragically gunned down.

Confirming the incident, the NSCDC Command Public Relations Officer, Mike Ejelikwu, affirmed that the deceased was killed during a gun duel with the bandits. Despite the loss, Ejelikwu emphasized that the command remains committed to its constitutional mandate of ensuring security for law-abiding citizens in the state.

He further disclosed that the NSCDC has a specialized squad known as the Agro Rangers stationed across various local government areas in the state to safeguard agro-allied investments. Ejelikwu noted that although the death of the commander is a significant loss, there was heavy casualty inflicted upon the bandits during the encounter.
