He made this declaration during his address to Officer Cadets at the passing out parade and oath-taking ceremony for the Executive Commission Course 1/2023, held at the Major Bulama Biu Parade Ground, Military Cantonment, Jaji, Kaduna.

General Lagbaja emphasized the importance of the military’s subordination to constituted authority as the most fashionable way to promote military professionalism.

He highlighted that every Nigerian’s desire is for a flourishing and uninterrupted constitutional democratic governance that upholds national values and the interests of all well-meaning Nigerians, regardless of their ethnic or religious background.

The COAS charged all Nigerian Army personnel to take pride in championing the country’s flourishing democracy and to remain apolitical while fulfilling their constitutional duties.

He reassured that the Army is dedicated to ensuring the security of lives and properties across the country, protecting the nation’s territorial integrity, and supporting other security agencies in maintaining safety within the country.

During the ceremony, the COAS conferred Presidential Commission on the passing out cadets, promoting them to the rank of Lieutenant.

The 239 cadets, including 12 females and 228 males, had previously served as soldiers in various Corps of the Nigerian Army and were selected for Executive Commissioning after undergoing intensive military training from 1st May to 5th August 2023.

Among the cadets, three stood out for their exceptional performance. Cadet A Saminu secured the top position, followed by Cadet SC Nwokanta in second place, and Cadet OY Yahaya in third place.

Major General Oluyemi Olatoye, the Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, who supervised the cadets’ training, remarked that they have been equipped with the necessary skills to serve as officers. He emphasized their loyalty, courage, and dedication to their service to the nation.

The event culminated in the presentation of the Parchment of Commission to the newly commissioned Officers. Following the commissioning ceremony, the COAS paid a compassionate visit to officers and soldiers who were wounded in action during operational engagements at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna.
