Ovia In Safe Hands: Dennis Idahosa’s Unquenchable Fire For Service To The People
As theologians when we say, “The hands that serve are holier than the lips that pray,” we simply mean that if a man wants to worship God, he can do so more effectively by serving the poor and needy.
This was the main teaching of many great saints, including Buddha, Mahavira, and Jesus. This is primarily due to the fact that God is present not only in the idols we worship but also in all living things around us. As a result, we must treat all living things with equal respect and make every effort to assist our fellow humans. Serving the people is equal to serving God.
Hon Dennis Idahosa, who represents Ovia Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, is one lawmaker who never ceases to amaze his constituents. Dennis Idahosa’s case is one of a never-ending desire to serve the good people of Ovia Federal Constituency.
Critics are quick to question whether it is not his responsibility to look out for the interests of the people he was elected to represent. True, but leaders are created rather than born. And, like everything else, they are created through hard work.
Dennis is a remarkable legislator who has earned the respect of his constituents through his patriotic service. Dennis Idahosa is one legislator who thinks beyond the rhetoric of serving his constituents for personal aggrandizement or ill will.
Other lawmakers, for example, are equally involved in skill acquisition for their constituents; in fact, this is common among these federal lawmakers as it may be a means to manipulate the public that they are performing. Dennis, on the other hand, has not only launched a series of empowerment campaigns for his constituents, but he has also built three world-class skills acquisition centers to supplement his efforts.
Idahosa’s initiatives have the potential to lay the groundwork for every organization, government agency, non-profit org, political parties etc. to have a good center to likewise carry out skill-empowerment programs for the people of Ovia. In addition to saving them money, it gives them a way to periodically participate in these empowerment programs with ease.
A glimpse into his educational drive is also a classic example of a legislator who is not only proactive but also visionary.
Dennis is well-known for his signature school construction, renovation, and furnishing, but what more can a community say when their legislator now undertakes massive projects such as bridge construction, road construction, and so on in order for schoolchildren to have access to quality education?
When completed, the Arden Bridge currently being built by the legislator will allow residents of Aden and other surrounding communities who struggle to transport farm produce to cities to do so with ease. These are ground-breaking initiatives from a single member of the House of Representatives.
There was once a devout man who lived alone. One day, he had a dream in which God appeared to him to inform him that we would be visiting him the next day.
The man began looking through his door the next morning when he noticed an elderly man walking in the snow with difficulty. He brought the elderly man inside and fed him hot soup to keep him warm. The old man thanked him and left.
Then he saw an old lady selling apples and a small lad tried to steal the apples. He called the young lad and advised him not to steal and paid the old lady for the stolen apples.
He then helped a soldier’s wife who was carrying a child. He gave the child some clothes and gave the young woman some food. Thus throughout the day he was busy helping someone or other.
He soon felt tired and fell asleep and in his dream he saw God. He asked God I was expecting and you didn’t turn up why? God immediately replied….I came in many forms as the old man, as the old lady, the young lad, as the Child and its mother. You helped me by helping them all.
Dennis Idahosa, like this old fairy tale, has been a tool for reaching out to his constituents far beyond the scope of his office; his “Unquenchable Fire For Service To His People” is highly commendable. Service to man is service to God.
