Why Dennis Idahosa Is Considered As An Oracle In Ovia; Matters Arising By Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah

The white man defines an Oracle as a priest or priestess acting as a medium through whom advice or prophecy was sought from the gods.

It can also refer to something or someone who is regarded as an unquestionable authority on a subject, such as an expert, guru, mentor, adviser, etc.

A trip across Edo South, Ovia Federal Constituency to be precise has revealed the ORACLE status of the member representing Ovia Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon Dennis Idahosa and this is why.

Ordinarily, Ovia Federal Constituency, like any other in Nigeria, has had representatives in the National Assembly, State Assembly, local government levels, and even at the community level for a long time, but have they ever had it this good in terms of people’s representatives? Why is this case unique, and what impact does it have on the people of Ovia?

Dennis Idahosa took it upon himself to alter the story from the moment he was sworn in as the member representing Ovia Federal Constituency in the National Assembly. With a distinct style of interaction between the legislator and the community, it became clear that the work to be done was massive and required the people’s representation.

He identified all of the areas in which the people required the attention of the government, such as skill acquisition, good schools, health care centers, youth empowerment, trader empowerment, agricultural empowerment, good portable water, community road linkage, bridges, recreational centres, rural electrification  and so on.

Like a thirsty leader for success , he began the projects, and week after week, the results began to pour in: schools were renovated, new schools and health centers were built, roads were built to connect communities, bridges were built to connect communities, the best efforts on the floor of the house were made to address the ecological plight of some locations across his constituency, in fact, everything began to work and the people began to notice.

Dennis Idahosa has been regularly spotted overseeing or commissioning projects at one particular project location every week for the past three years.

Even the most cynical of skeptics were enthralled and amazed by the zeal and energy Dennis uses to make his people feel the impact of governance; over time, he began to establish himself as a model for a young person in governance.

Dennnis’s character has even outperformed his excellent performance in terms of service delivery to the people; Dennis is humble and interacts directly with the locals.

Dennis has performed as if he were a Governor or a Federal Minister; his works are indelible, and he has left a legacy that will serve as a model for future lawmakers not only from Ovia, but from Edo State and the Niger Delta as a whole.
