OYRTMA Chairman Issues Warning: Heavy Penalties For Traffic Rule Violations In Oyo
Adesagba expressed the need for people’s attitudinal change in obeying traffic rules, saying that over 31 persons had been charged to court for violating traffic light rules under the newly constituted tribunal on the rule of law.
The OYRTMA chairman made this known when the Director-General, Oyo State Mobilisation Agency for Social-Economic Development, Dr Morohunkola Thomas, paid a courtesy visit to Adesagba, at the state secretariat, Ibadan, the state capital.
This was contained in a release issued by OYASMED on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, and made available to journalists.
Speaking during the visit, Morohunkola said OYMASED in conjunction with OYRTMA, would reorientate people on obedience to traffic rules, at the just-constructed junction improvement by the state government.
He also called on residents of the state to reciprocate the government’s gesture by compliance with traffic laws, adding that the state government under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, had committed much to infrastructural development such as junction improvement, and streetlights, among others.
He said, “Disobedience to traffic rules poses a great threat to the socioeconomic development of the state. Our people need to change their orientation in obeying traffic rules,”
Morohunkola said, adding that offenders of traffic rules would now face the newly constituted tribunal on the rule of law.
Speaking further, Major Adesagba (retd.) said core values of humanity should be revived, and be included in the school curriculum, especially from primary to secondary school level, adding that OYRTMA had 76 functional units across Oyo State.
