The eldest son of the late Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, and Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Taiwo Fasoranti, has revealed that his father died peacefully at home at the age of 100.

According to Ireporter Online, Taiwo disclosed this while speaking with journalists on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, following the death of the elder statesman, describing his father’s passing as an opportunity to celebrate a remarkable life of service and lasting contributions to society.

He explained that the late Yoruba leader passed away in his room at approximately 4 p.m., noting that although the family had hoped to celebrate his 101st birthday, they remained grateful for the century he spent making an impact on the lives of others.

Taiwo said the family was thankful for the support received from well-wishers and admirers, adding that they preferred to reflect on the deceased’s achievements and influence rather than focus solely on the pain of losing him.

Reflecting on their close relationship, the Ondo State Government official described his father as a disciplined, principled and thoughtful man who communicated important lessons calmly but firmly.

He recalled that his daily routine often involved seeing his father before leaving for work and returning home to meet him waiting, regardless of how late he arrived.

According to him, those personal moments created a special bond that the family would deeply miss, particularly his father’s distinctive way of offering guidance without intimidation.

Taiwo also highlighted Fasoranti’s lifelong commitment to education, revealing that the elder statesman continued visiting one of his schools until just a few weeks before his death.

He described his father as a dedicated educationist who believed that access to education was essential for personal development and societal progress.

The late Afenifere leader was also remembered as a selfless individual who encouraged people to contribute meaningfully to their communities and support those in need.

In honouring his father’s legacy, Taiwo called on relatives, friends, colleagues and admirers to support the education of disadvantaged children, urging them to sponsor at least one child who might otherwise be unable to attend school.

He stressed that investing in education and giving back to society would be a fitting way to preserve the values his father upheld throughout his life.

Taiwo further urged Nigerians to embrace community service and make meaningful contributions to the lives of others, noting that his father’s legacy extended beyond his political influence to include his dedication to education, discipline and humanity.

The death of Fasoranti marks the end of a remarkable chapter in the life of a prominent Yoruba leader whose influence spanned generations. His family has encouraged Nigerians to remember him not only for his longevity but also for his enduring commitment to education, community development and public service.
