Chris Nehikhare, the Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, made this claim during a press briefing in Benin City.

Nehikhare accused the APC of relying on falsehoods and propaganda as its primary campaign tactics.

He stated, “The APC’s sole strategy for the governorship election is to resort to lies and propaganda. When a party adopts lies and propaganda as an election strategy, it signifies a lack of substance. The party is deficient in individuals with integrity, capability, and intellect.”

Presenting evidence in the form of a screenshot from the official APC WhatsApp platform, Nehikhare highlighted internal discussions where party members expressed doubts about their campaign approach. “Is this the best we can do?” one member questioned, reflecting a sense of dissatisfaction within the party ranks.

Nehikhare emphasized that the APC is reluctant to promote its candidate and has failed to articulate a coherent vision for the state’s future.

He criticized the party’s focus on serving its own interests rather than addressing the needs of the state, labeling their tactics as detrimental falsehoods and propaganda.

The commissioner suggested that such tactics are insufficient for the opposition party, like the APC, to secure victory in the September 21 governorship election.

While cautioning against misinformation and fake news ahead of the election, Nehikhare urged media professionals to maintain neutrality when reporting on matters related to falsehoods and propaganda.

He highlighted Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration’s substantial achievements, which serve as a robust foundation to promote and support their candidate for the upcoming election.
