“Rivers people are in support of Fubara—the elders, the traditional rulers, senior political and opinion leaders, the youths, women—they are in support,” he said.

The political landscape in Rivers State intensified on Monday as 27 lawmakers from the Rivers State House of Assembly shifted allegiance from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a parallel development, numerous members of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the APC crossed over to the PDP over the weekend.

Wilson, a former House of Assembly candidate for Ahoada West constituency, cited public interests as the impetus for his move to the PDP.

In response to the defection of 27 PDP lawmakers to the APC, Wilson questioned their motives and deemed any impeachment efforts against Governor Fubara as against the interests of the people.

The assembly’s crisis stems from a rift between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, currently serving as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
