PDP Shake-Up: Two Yobe Reps Quit Amid Party Turmoil
Two members of the House of Representatives from Yobe State, Engr. Muhammad Buba Kajere and Hassan Kaikaku Jakduwa, have officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Kajere represents the Fika/Fune Federal Constituency, while Jakduwa serves the Bade/Jakusko Federal Constituency.
According to Ireporter Online, Kajere stated in his resignation letter that the decision was influenced by personal convictions and considerations for his political future. He noted that the unresolved internal crisis within the PDP at the national level played a significant role in his choice to step down. “I believe it is in my best interest to step aside from the party at this time in view of the unresolved internal crisis of the party at the national level,” he explained.
Similarly, Jakduwa cited a thorough evaluation of the current political landscape and his dedication to better serving his constituents as reasons for leaving the party. He emphasised that his political decisions are guided by a commitment to the welfare and development of his communities. “Politics, to me, has always been about service, responsibility and the collective progress of our people. At every step, my priority remains the welfare, unity and development of our communities,” Jakduwa said.
Neither lawmaker disclosed the political parties they intend to join following their departure from the PDP. Their resignations come amid ongoing realignments and internal disputes within several opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
