The Labour Party’s presidential candidate from the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has successfully completed his tour of the United States. According to the statement, the tour aimed to continue Obi’s engagement with Nigerians living abroad and to reinforce his commitment to fostering a new Nigeria. The cities included in this leg of the tour were Houston, Texas; Los Angeles, California; and Atlanta, Georgia.

“This tour marks the final segment of his North America Appreciation visits, which previously included stops in Toronto, Canada; Boston, MA; New York City, NY; West Orange, NJ; Cherry Hill, NJ; Dallas, TX; Charlotte, NC; and Detroit, MI,” the statement noted.

In a post on his X account, the former Governor of Anambra State announced the completion of his North America tour and expressed gratitude to the Nigerian diaspora for their ongoing support for Nigeria.

Peter Obi stated, “Yesterday, I concluded my North America Thank You Tour with an Open Forum for the Nigerian diaspora in Atlanta, Georgia, where I was joined by several Georgia State Legislators.

“During our discussions, I urged everyone to keep the vision of a New Nigeria alive—a country where institutions function effectively, the rule of law prevails, and all citizens have equal opportunities to succeed. I dream of a Nigeria built on merit, where individuals can rise from poverty, regardless of their origins.

“With this North America tour concluded, I sincerely thank the Nigerian diaspora for their contributions to Nigeria’s sustainability and encourage you to continue your efforts.

“Our collective action will pave the way for a new Nigeria that is truly achievable.”
