In a statement shared on his official social media platform today, March 6, Adelabu expressed deep concern about the worsening electricity situation and emphasized the need for urgent action.

“The declining electricity supply is a pressing issue that requires immediate attention,” Adelabu stated. “As the Minister of Power, I have called upon the Chief Executives of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), and the Managing Director of TCN to join me in a crucial meeting.”

The primary objective of this meeting, according to Adelabu, is to address the escalating power supply challenges in their respective regions and collectively devise sustainable solutions.

Expressing disappointment over the persistent decline in power supply despite recent efforts to boost generation, Adelabu highlighted issues such as inadequate distribution by some companies and vandalism of power infrastructure as major contributing factors.

However, Adelabu reassured Nigerians of his commitment to resolving these challenges, emphasizing that accountability will be enforced among distribution companies. He warned of severe consequences, including license revocation, for non-performance.

Furthermore, Adelabu disclosed plans to prioritize repair works on damaged transmission infrastructure and settle outstanding debts owed to power generation and gas supply companies. These measures, he believes, will contribute to improved generation levels nationwide.
