The ranking saw no changes at the top, with Real Madrid (€1.05 billion) leading, followed by Premier League champions Manchester City (€838 million) and Paris Saint-Germain (€806 million). The €208 million gap between Madrid and City is the largest ever recorded by Deloitte.

The extensive refurbishment of the Santiago Bernabeu doubled Real Madrid’s matchday revenue to €248 million in the 2023/24 season. Since 2018, the club has taken out loans exceeding €1 billion to transform the stadium into a state-of-the-art entertainment hub, featuring an undulating metal roof, expanded VIP sections, shops, and a retractable pitch.

The revamped Bernabeu has already hosted major events, including performances by megastar Taylor Swift and an upcoming NFL game, marking Spain’s first. However, complaints from local residents about noise pollution have temporarily paused concerts at the venue.

“Football clubs are evolving beyond their identity as sporting brands. Club stadiums are increasingly valued as multi-purpose entertainment hubs, attracting diverse visitors, sponsors, and revenue streams,” said Tim Bridge, lead partner at Deloitte’s Sports Business Group.

Despite an 11% rise in matchday revenue, commercial income remained the largest contributor for the Money League clubs, accounting for 44% of their total revenue. Broadcast revenue held steady at €4.3 billion, as domestic broadcast deals for the “Big Five” leagues (England, Spain, Italy, France, and Germany) remained unchanged.

English clubs dominated the rankings, driven by the Premier League’s lucrative television deals. Six of the top 10 clubs and nine of the top 20 are English teams.

Manchester United climbed to fourth place (€771 million) following their return to the Champions League, overtaking Bayern Munich (€765 million). Barcelona dropped to sixth due to renovation work on Camp Nou, which has forced the team to play at the smaller Montjuic Stadium.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, and Chelsea rounded out the top 10, despite the latter three missing out on Champions League football last season.
