In the letter, jointly signed by Fatai Shorinmade and Ogundairo Victor, the chairman and secretary of the association respectively, the retired military personnel expressed their concerns over the alarming increase in killings and kidnappings across Nigeria. They commended Tinubu for his decisive actions in combating banditry and restoring peace, acknowledging his commitment to rooting out criminal elements from Nigeria’s forests and hideouts.

With a collective service record of 35 years in various capacities, the veterans lauded Tinubu’s dedication to national security and highlighted the widespread support he has garnered from the veteran community.

While recognizing the progress made by the armed forces in addressing security threats, the veterans emphasized the importance of upholding Nigeria’s unity and sovereignty, values they defended throughout their careers.

In their letter, the veterans stressed the need for prioritizing the welfare of both active soldiers and retired war veterans. They urged Tinubu to ensure that adequate attention is given to their welfare concerns, warning that neglecting the needs of war veterans could undermine the morale of serving soldiers.

The veterans concluded their letter with a plea for swift action, urging President Tinubu to address the welfare challenges faced by war veterans.
