Senate Leader Speaks On Those Frustrating Tinubu’s Economic Policies
Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, the Senate leader, has alleged the presence of saboteurs hindering President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to rejuvenate the economy and improve the living standards of Nigerians.
According to Bamidele, these saboteurs are determined to undermine the current administration’s endeavors to set Nigeria on a progressive path of comprehensive socio-economic growth and development.
Speaking on Tuesday, December 26, at his Iyin-Ekiti country home in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State, the senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District highlighted that the insidious activities of these saboteurs are impeding President Tinubu’s initiatives to revitalize the country’s economy, particularly through manipulations in the foreign exchange market (forex) for personal gains.
Bamidele emphasized that these actions are adversely affecting the manufacturing and other productive sectors, as they are deprived of the necessary forex for importing raw materials, spare parts, and machinery.

He expressed disappointment that those anticipating negative impacts from President Tinubu’s revolutionary economic policies are actively working to sabotage them, prioritizing their selfish interests over the welfare of Nigerians.
The Senate leader underscored that President Tinubu’s administration could have achieved more for the country were it not for the destructive tendencies of certain cabals. These individuals, opposed to policies like the removal of oil subsidies and other economic reforms, are actively fighting back, jeopardizing the nation’s progress. Bamidele assured that the federal government, beginning next year, will crack down on these economic saboteurs, asserting that Nigeria will not succumb to the destructive tendencies of profit-driven individuals.
“This administration is also going after saboteurs especially those who are doing everything viciously possible to keep dollar so high against our naira and those who are making naira unavailable. It has gotten to a level where the federal government has to go after the so called saboteurs and punish them. All of these would happen in the new year.
“We know that in the long run, those who are trying to mop up naira and dollar in the street so that prices can go up and those who are speculating are definitely on the watch list of the government and at some point the government would go after them. But beyond that, there is hope on the horizon for Nigerians”, the senate leader added.
Bamidele acknowledged the challenges faced by Nigerians due to the removal of oil subsidies and the disruptive activities of saboteurs. Despite the current hardships, he expressed optimism that there is hope on the horizon, emphasizing President Tinubu’s unwavering determination to provide relief to citizens.
Assuring Nigerians, Bamidele stated that the comprehensive implementation of the 2024 budget would bring about positive changes in the economy and other crucial sectors. He anticipated that in the coming months, Nigerians would experience a sense of relief and improvement in their circumstances.
He urged Nigerians not to lose hope in President Tinubu’s leadership, saying “he has a strong conviction that the number one helsman would turn the situation of things around for good in the country like he did in Lagos State.
“There is no doubt that 2024 is going to witness transformation in our economy. I’m pained about circumstances of our people and what they are going through at the moment but I’m more joyous and excited about immediate bright future that is following this because i know that in Nigeria will shall laugh again”, he said.
