Shehu Sani Blasts NPC: Spending Almost ₦1 Trillion On Census Is Insane!

Former Senator for Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has strongly criticized the National Population Commission (NPC) for proposing a budget of nearly ₦1 trillion for the upcoming national census, describing the request as “irrational.”

The NPC had put forward a budget of ₦942 billion for the housing and population census scheduled for this year. However, reports indicate that President Bola Tinubu rejected the proposal and is instead considering utilizing National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to carry out the exercise.

Reacting to the development, Sani commended President Tinubu’s decision. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he stated: “The National Population Commission’s request for almost a trillion naira to count Nigerians is sheer madness. The rejection of their budget is commendable.”
