Singer Nanyah’s Family Announces Burial Arrangements
The family of late singer Ifunanya Nwangene, popularly known as Nanyah, has announced her funeral arrangements following her untimely death on January 31, 2026, after a snakebite incident at her Abuja residence. According to the family, she was immediately taken to a hospital but did not survive. Her sudden passing has prompted an outpouring of grief from fans, colleagues, and members of Nigeria’s music community.
Her brother, Kingsley Nwangene, confirmed the funeral plans on his Instagram handle, @official_kaybaba1, sharing her obituary with a heartfelt message: “Till I see you again.” The family stated that a service of songs will take place on February 10 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Abule Oshun, Dansa, Lagos, beginning at 4 p.m., followed by a requiem mass at 6 p.m. at the same venue.
The family further announced that Nanyah will be laid to rest in her hometown in Enugu State on February 14, 2026, with a thanksgiving service scheduled for February 15 to celebrate her life and legacy.
In a tribute to the late singer, the Abuja Metropolitan Music Society Choir organized a concert at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton, Abuja. The program, titled “Tribute and Songs,” honored Nanyah’s contributions to the capital’s classical and contemporary music scene. Choir members confirmed that her remains have been transported to Enugu State, where her father resides, describing her death as a significant loss to Abuja’s music community.
