Son Of Lekki Monarch Killed In Gunmen Attack
Gunmen have reportedly murdered Demola Akinloye, the first son of Oba Tijani Akinloye, the traditional ruler of Ajiran land, Lekki, Lagos State.
The brutal killing occurred on Sunday around 12:30 pm near Bourdillion Court Estate along Chevron Drive.
According to the Lagos Police Command, the 50-year-old Akinloye was driving a Toyota Corolla when he was attacked by suspected gunmen in a minibus.
Eyewitness accounts suggested the assailants shot and stabbed Akinloye to death before fleeing the scene.
Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating that a distress call was received at the station, prompting an immediate response.He said officers visited the crime scene where they recovered an expended cartridge while Akinloye’s body has been transferred to a morgue in Ajah, pending an autopsy.
The case has since been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti-Yaba for further investigation.
The incident sent shockwaves through the Ajiran community, leading to widespread fear and panic.
The area around the crime scene, particularly near Chevron Drive, has been deserted as residents, gripped by fear, fled.
Notices from local estate management have urged residents to avoid the Chevron, Agungi, and Ajiran areas for safety.
