South-South PDP Crisis: Gov Diri Rejects Wike’s Election, Drops Shocking Revelation
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has clarified that the postponement of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South-South zonal congress was at the request of the region’s governors.
Speaking on Monday at the PDP State Executive Council (SEC) meeting in Yenagoa, Diri stated that the congress, initially scheduled for February 22,……READ MORE was deferred after the four PDP governors in the South-South informed the National Working Committee (NWC) that the date was unsuitable.
He dismissed reports of a congress already held in Calabar, Cross River State, explaining that the party’s national leadership had refuted such claims and would announce a new date soon.
Reaffirming PDP’s dominance in Bayelsa, Diri urged party members to ignore divisive rumors, emphasizing that the party remains united.
Meanwhile, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and his allies had conducted a zonal congress in Cross River, electing Dan Osi Orbih as the zonal chairman—a move rejected by the party’s national leadership.
