Scheduled for observation after sunset on Saturday, 29th Rajab, 1445AH (February 10, 2024), this marks a crucial step in readiness for the upcoming fasting period.

According to a statement from the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), released by Deputy Secretary-General Prof Salisu Shehu, the sighting holds significant importance in the Islamic lunar calendar.

Sha’aban, the eighth month, heralds the imminent arrival of Ramadan, the ninth month and holiest period of fasting for Muslims globally.

This call serves as a spiritual reminder for Nigeria’s Muslim community to brace themselves for Ramadan, emphasizing the collective observance integral to Islamic tradition.
