The Supreme Court upheld the governor’s election on Friday, dismissing the efforts of the All Progressives Congress’ gubernatorial candidate, Sadique Abubakar, to challenge Mohammed’s victory at the two lower courts.

Abubakar, a former Air Chief, alleged significant non-compliance with the Electoral Act during the election, but both the tribunal and the appellate court rejected his claims, stating that he failed to substantiate his allegations convincingly.

Justice Ibrahim Saulawa, reading the lead judgment on Friday, ruled against the appellant on all six issues, declaring the appeal lacking in merit.

The airport reception was marked by a jubilant crowd holding placards and banners with congratulatory messages. Governor Bala Mohammed, accompanied by his wife, Aisha, and other dignitaries, arrived at the airport via a chartered aircraft around 12:15 pm.

Upon arrival, he was welcomed by top state government officials and PDP leaders, led by his deputy, Mohammed Auwal-Jatau.

The governor then embarked on a rally through major roads in the metropolis, taking over three hours to reach the Government House after covering significant landmarks. A reception in his honor was held at the Government House following the rally.
