Suspected Herdsman Cuts Off Farmer’s Hand In Kaduna Community

According to reports gathered by DAILY POST, the victim, Bitrus Chawai, who is a former NULGE Chairman in the Kauru Local Government Area and currently serves as a trustee at the state level, had returned home to prepare his land for farming when he was attacked by the herder.

Bitrus Chawai’s younger brother, Barnabas, recounted that his elder brother went to his farm, located not far from their family house, only to discover that cows had invaded one of his farms and consumed beans. When Bitrus confronted the herder about the incident, he was reportedly viciously attacked.

Barnabas explained, “Their target was to machete his head, but he used his hand to shield his head. As a result, his arm was chopped off.”

The community has reportedly been experiencing continuous attacks by herdsmen, with two similar incidents reported last year. Bitrus Chawai’s father took him to the Divisional Police Station in Damakasuwa, Kauru Local Government Area, to file a complaint and seek prompt action to ensure the perpetrator faces justice.

Bitrus Chawai has been experiencing severe bleeding since the incident, and efforts are underway to transport him to another hospital in Kaduna for further medical attention. Despite attempts to reach the spokesperson for the state’s police command, ASP Mansir Hassan, there has been no response.
