Terrorists Tremble! 78 Eliminated, 175 Hostages Rescued As Police Intensify Offensive — NOA Reports

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has disclosed that the Nigerian police neutralized 78 suspected terrorists and successfully rescued 175 kidnap victims within a single month.

Speaking during a national joint security press briefing held at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja on Monday, Lanre Issa-Onilu, Director-General of the NOA, revealed that law enforcement conducted 326 operations nationwide.

These efforts led to the arrest of 2,109 suspects and the dismantling of 62 organized criminal groups.

Issa-Onilu confirmed that 16 police officers lost their lives in the line of duty, while 49 civilian fatalities were also recorded in connection with various security challenges.

ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE, these operations yielded significant recoveries, including 142 firearms, 1,730 rounds of ammunition, and a wide array of narcotics and illicit substances—among them 218 kilograms of cannabis sativa, 24 capsules of Tramadol, 440 units of Exol, 68 sachets of Pregabalin, 146 bottles of “suck and die,” and 63 containers of “rubber solution.”

In addition, anti-smuggling teams intercepted 199 cartons of imported toothpaste, while asset recoveries included 79 vehicles, 10 tricycles, 17 motorcycles, and N10,092,800 in cash.

Issa-Onilu emphasized that the federal government has intensified nationwide security efforts, integrating tactical enforcement with intelligence-led strategies.

He stated that banditry, insurgency, and trafficking are being tackled through inter-agency collaboration, which has led to increased arrests, rescues, and asset seizures.

ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE, Issa-Onilu praised security forces for reclaiming peace across regions, from the North-East to the Niger Delta, asserting that Nigeria is responding to threats with unity and determination.

He urged citizens and media outlets to avoid spreading unverified information and to support authorities in safeguarding communities.
