The Children Of Queen Elizabeth II

The late Queen Elizabeth II, who reigned from 1957 to 2022, was finally buried (in the vault) on Monday, September 19, after an elaborate programme of ceremonies and parades. The highly revered monarch was married to Prince Philip, the late Duke of Edinburgh, the British royal family’s longest-living male member, and they had four children—the most popular being King Charles. Others are Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward.

PRINCE CHARLES

Charles Philip Arthur George, Prince of Wales, was born on November 14, 1948. Charles was born in Buckingham Palace, while his own children and three of his grandchildren were all born in the same hospital, at St. Mary’s Hospital in London. At his mother’s 1953 coronation, Prince Charles was 4 years old at the time, and her royal commitments, including a six-month Commonwealth tour, took her and Philip around the globe while Charles and his sister stayed at home with their caretakers.

PRINCESS ANNE

Princess Anne, who happened to be Prince Philip and Elizabeth’s only daughter, was born on August 15, 1950, at the London royal residence of Clarence House, where Elizabeth and Philip lived until 1953. At the time of her birth, she was second in line to the throne after Charles. Anne was a tot when her mother and father began leaving her and Charles at home for royal obligations, often for extended amounts of time.

Just like her brother, Princess Anne has been married twice. She married Captain Mark Phillips in 1973, with whom she has two children, Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall. Anne and Philips separated in 1989. Shortly after their 1992 divorce, she remarried Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence, who is her current husband.

PRINCE ANDREW

After welcoming Princess Anne, Elizabeth didn’t have another child for an entire decade. She then gave birth to Andrew Albert Christian Edward, who is well known as Prince Andrew, Duke of York, at Buckingham Palace on the 19th of February, 1960. In 1986, Prince Andrew married Sarah Ferguson and had two daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie. The couple then divorced in 1996.

In 1960, when Andrew was born, the queen had been on the throne for eight years and didn’t have to leave the toddler to tour the Commonwealth for months. She was able to give him more attention, and Andrew was someone with whom she had a particular affinity.

 PRINCE EDWARD

Prince Edward, who is the youngest of Queen Elizabeth’s children, was the first to be born in the delivery room. Edward has stayed out of the spotlight more than his brothers have. At 23, Edward worked as a production assistant for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Really Useful Theater Company. Edward’s production company, Ardent, which created TV dramas and documentaries, was dissolved in 2011. He’s currently a full-time royal.
