The Inside Story: How Odefa Convinced Governor Mbah To Kick Me Out – Samuel Anyanwu
The National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Samuel Anyanwu, has alleged that Ali Odefa, the former Vice Chairman for the South East Zone, conspired to have him removed from his position.
Anyanwu contends that Odefa misled Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah into believing that Anyanwu needed to be ousted.
Despite the alleged scheme for his dismissal, Anyanwu emphasized that he was elected at a national convention and can only be removed through that same process.
He made these statements during a meeting with the National Working Committee (NWC) members from the South East, which included various stakeholders from the party in the region.
Anyanwu explained, “In 2023, I intended to run for governor in my state and informed the party I would be gone for three months. I asked my deputy to step in until I returned. Unbeknownst to me, Ali Odefa was plotting behind my back to have me removed. He tricked our only governor in the South East, Peter Mbah, into believing I had to be ousted.”
The issue surrounding the PDP National Secretary position has been a source of tension since Anyanwu’s departure to pursue the Imo governorship, a campaign he ultimately lost. During his absence, the Southeast Caucus of the party appointed Sunday Ude-Okoye as his replacement.
Now, Anyanwu’s attempts to regain his position have further deepened the crisis within the party.
