“Those Who Met Me In This Party Cannot Force Me Out,” Wike Tells PDP Leaders
Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has declared that he will not permit any individual or group to force him out of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting that his contributions to the party’s foundation and growth cannot be erased. According to Ireporter Online, Wike spoke firmly on the matter during the party’s 104th National Executive Committee meeting held late Sunday, where he expressed deep frustration over what he described as attempts to sideline him through illegitimate means.
The former Rivers State governor reminded party leaders that he had been actively involved since the party’s formation in 1998, stressing that it was unacceptable for individuals who joined later to attempt to dictate its direction or push out its early builders. He stated that several prominent figures currently enjoying political relevance only found their footing in the PDP after failing to secure success in other political platforms.
Wike cited examples of serving governors who, according to him, previously contested elections under different parties without success before later benefiting from the PDP structure. He warned that those who had made sacrifices for the party’s survival from inception would not fold their arms while opportunistic interests attempt to destroy it from within.
Recounting his political journey, Wike traced his rise from a local government chairman to governor, attributing every major victory in his career to the PDP. He emphasized that his loyalty to the party was built on years of dedication, sacrifice, and consistent electoral success, adding that such commitment should not be dismissed or undermined by political convenience.
He further made it clear that his support ahead of future political contests would be strictly for individuals who align with President Bola Tinubu, reinforcing his firm political stance amid ongoing tensions within the opposition party.
