At least three persons were allegedly killed during a clash between two communities of Ekiugbo and Otor-vwreko of Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The clash was reportedly caused by imposition fee of N5,000 levy on traders.

A source who pleaded anonymity said among the three persons allegedly killed during the clash were John Mark, Odibo and another deceased yet to be identified.

The source said the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when youths from the Otor-vwreko went  to inform the traders that they would  be collecting fee of N5,000 from those trading along the walkway.

The source said it was after the announcement that the other neighbouring Ekiugbo community, sharing a common boundary with Otor-vwreko community rose to challenge the order of payment which led to the crisis.

The source said, “While the argument between the two communities heightened, from nowhere, we started hearing gunshots in the air and the whole market was in total disarray as many traders left their stores and goods scampering for safety.

“Few minutes later, information filtered out that about three persons from Otor-vwreko including the son of the oldest man had been killed during the clash between the two communities.”
