effective immediately. This decision comes after the current AGF, Dr. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, began her pre-retirement leave.

In a statement regarding the leadership change, President Tinubu emphasized the need for continuity in Nigeria’s treasury management. He stated that Ogunjimi’s appointment reflects the administration’s dedication to reforming treasury policies and enhancing financial governance.

Ogunjimi, a veteran civil servant and the most senior director within the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), boasts over 30 years of expertise in financial management. His former positions include Director of Funds at the OAGF and Director of Finance and Accounts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A qualified professional, Ogunjimi is a chartered accountant, certified fraud examiner, chartered stockbroker, and chartered security and investment specialist. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy and a Master’s in Finance and Accounting.

Commenting on the appointment, President Tinubu remarked, “The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation plays a crucial role in managing our nation’s finances. Mr. Ogunjimi’s extensive experience and skill will ensure the continued effectiveness of this essential office as we pursue our economic reform agenda.”

The president also acknowledged Dr. Madein’s dedicated service to the nation and her significant impact on Nigeria’s financial system as she prepares for her mandatory retirement on March 7, 2025.
