Published

The dollar-to-naira exchange rate at the parallel market, popularly known as the black market or Aboki FX, remained a major focus for foreign exchange traders on Thursday, May 28, 2026.

According to market sources familiar with trading activities at the Lagos parallel market, the United States dollar was bought at ₦1385 and sold at ₦1393 by Bureau De Change (BDC) operators.

Reports indicate that the exchange rates continue to fluctuate across different locations and dealers, depending on market demand and supply conditions.

Meanwhile, data from the official market showed that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) rate ranged between ₦1374 and ₦1376 against the dollar.

The apex bank has consistently maintained that it does not recognize transactions carried out in the parallel market and has advised individuals seeking foreign exchange services to use authorized financial institutions and commercial banks.

Currency traders also noted that forex rates may vary slightly from one exchange point to another due to market volatility and transaction volume.
