According to Ireporter Online, troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a suspected informant allegedly linked to Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) at the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport in Yobe State.

Security sources, as gathered by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency platform covering the Lake Chad region, disclosed that the suspect was picked up at about 5:30 a.m. on April 23 by personnel of Sector 2 deployed at the airport.

The sources revealed that the individual was noticed acting in a suspicious manner close to a military installation within the airport environment, prompting his immediate arrest.

During preliminary questioning, the suspect was said to have failed to provide any useful information to investigators. He was thereafter handed over to a military intelligence unit for further interrogation.

While noting that the overall security situation in the theatre of operations remains relatively calm, the sources cautioned that it is still unpredictable. However, they maintained that troops continue to demonstrate high morale and operational efficiency in ongoing counter-insurgency efforts.

The development comes just weeks after troops apprehended two other suspected informants linked to Boko Haram/ISWAP in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State, highlighting continued intelligence-led operations across the region.
