Trump Compares Himself To Nelson Mandela Amid Legal Battles

Trump’s assertion came as he accused Judge Juan Merchan of encroaching upon his rights to free speech and expression, alleging legal misconduct.

The Republican figure, currently embroiled in four separate criminal cases, faces potential imprisonment at the age of 77.

One of the cases involves accusations of paying hush money to a former adult film star prior to the 2016 presidential election, which he won against Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

With his trial set to commence on April 15, Judge Merchan has implemented a partial gag order on Trump, who has consistently criticized the judge on social media.

In response, Trump took to his Truth Social platform, declaring, “If this Partisan Hack wants to put me in the ‘clink’ for speaking the open and obvious TRUTH, I will gladly become a Modern Day Nelson Mandela – It will be my GREAT HONOR.”

Nelson Mandela, renowned for his anti-apartheid activism, endured 27 years of imprisonment before ascending to the presidency of South Africa. He passed away in 2013.

This isn’t the first instance of Trump likening himself to Mandela; he previously made a similar comparison at a 2023 rally and has also drawn parallels between himself and Jesus Christ.
