Truth Matters’ – RCCG Clarifies Reports Claiming Pastor Adeboye ‘Called Off Protest
According to Ireporter Online, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has dismissed widespread reports suggesting that its General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has taken a political position or endorsed any candidate or party.
The church clarified in a statement shared via its official public relations X handle that Adeboye has consistently advised members of the congregation to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in elections by voting according to their conscience, rather than aligning with any political group.
RCCG emphasized that its members belong to different political parties and are free to exercise their democratic rights without interference or political direction from the leadership of the church.
The church also refuted claims that Pastor Adeboye had called off a planned protest, describing the report as false and misleading. It explained that what was communicated by the cleric was a directive from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), which involved an adjustment to an existing three-day prayer programme. According to the clarification, the revised arrangement included holding a grand finale at a central location, alongside a coordinated rally around the venue.
Addressing concerns about silence on national issues, RCCG maintained that Adeboye has consistently spoken on matters affecting the country, including insecurity, corruption, economic hardship, elections, governance, and the need for moral and righteous leadership. However, the church noted that such messages are often delivered through prayer, spiritual counsel, and moral guidance rather than partisan engagement.
The statement further urged the public to disregard false narratives and rely only on official communication channels of the church for accurate information regarding the General Overseer and the mission. It also called on bloggers, media practitioners, and content creators to verify information before publication.
“Verify before you believe. Fact-check before you publish. Truth matters,” the statement concluded.
