During a visit by the Presidential Livestock Reform Implementation Committee, led by Professor Attahiru Jega, Governor Mohammed highlighted how the sector could tackle key national challenges, including unemployment, poverty, and foreign exchange shortages.

He expressed his unwavering commitment to revitalizing the livestock industry, which he believes is crucial for boosting Bauchi’s economy. “The livestock sector offers an enormous opportunity for economic growth,” Governor Mohammed said, adding that Bauchi’s unique assets—its vast forests and peaceful environment—could greatly enhance food security while creating jobs for the state’s residents.

The Governor also responded positively to the committee’s recommendation to maximize the potential of a federal livestock facility in Sullubawa, located in Toro Local Government Area. He reassured the committee that his administration would provide the necessary manpower and resources to ensure the facility’s success.

Governor Mohammed praised the committee’s leadership and acknowledged Professor Jega’s recognition of his proactive approach in engaging the committee. He noted that the collaborative efforts could unlock the sector’s untapped potential, paving the way for sustainable national growth.

To further drive reforms, the Governor revealed plans to establish a state-level committee dedicated to developing a comprehensive blueprint for the future of the livestock sector, aiming to position it as a cornerstone of Bauchi’s economy and Nigeria’s broader development goals.
