Using Orbih’s Old Video To Campaign Cannot Rescue Asue From Defeat

There is a video going round where Chief Dan Orbih, the present South South Vice Chairman, PDP, the undisputable leader of the largest political group in Edo State, the Legacy Coalition. In the throwback video, Orbih was campaigning for Obaseki after he was tossed away from APC and had joined the PDP before the 2020 election where he said Comrade Oshiomole cannot tell the people who they should vote for.

The present PDP handlers are using the video to gain attention  but every critical political watcher will sense the stupidity and futility of such an attempt. Rather, it goes to shoe the level of ingratitude against Chief Dan Orbih and his political base who relinquished their ticket and campaigned for Obaseki to wrestle power from the APC.

If not for nothing, the said video is a reminder of how ungrateful Obaseki and his group have been since 2020 after winning. It goes to show how Obaseki mismanaged serially the political relationship that fostered his victory. The video goes to show how Obaseki has mismanaged the reward system that goes with politics. The video goes to show how Obaseki with his cohorts succeeded in destroying PDP in Edo State beyond adjustment.

Today, in droves, all over the 18LGAs, people are leaving PDP because of its unappealing state as occassioned by Obaseki. Resignation letters from PDP members are more than the entire APC members who left APC with Obaseki. Edo North and Edo Central are no-go-areas for PDP; forget those few paperweight political hangers-on who are being bought for fees by Obaseki and Asue. Some of them dont win elections anyways away from social media.

In Edo South, the 2 Ovias are already in the kitty of APC as Dennis Idahosa and Omosede Igbenedion will run riot in the 2 LGas. Egor has been deciminated by Hon. Nosa Adams and his foot soldiers. Rt. Hon. Ogbeide Ihama will castrate Oredo. The remaining 3 LGAs that make up Edo South will be shared between APC, PDP and Olumide of the Labour Party. I do not know where Asue will be able to win. 

Asue might not directly have his political sins of his own even when some say he is liable when you look at the economic and infrastructural decay the state is in at the moment being part of the reckless economic team of Obaseki. However, for every sin, be it moral or political, there must be consequences.

If Obaseki’s godson, Asue, succeeds in winning this election, God forbid, there wont be any moral lesson for others to learn from. It will look as if evil pays…so it is important that the Edo State electorates who’s goodwill Obaseki squandered taught him a political lesson by defeating his bespoke English speaking Lagosian to send a message not just to Edo State citizens, but to Nigerians at large that the political attitude of Obaseki, coupled with his abysmal performance, cannot be tolerated by normal people with sanity.
