Why I’ll Be Far From Abuja After May 29 – Buhari Speaks
President Muhammadu Buhari has stated that when he leaves office on May 29, 2023, he will retire to his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, to rest and be as far away as possible to avoid problems.
The President stated this on Sunday, when he paid Christmas homage to residents of the Federal Capital Territory.

He also expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their trust, support, and the opportunity to serve as their leader.
Using the occasion to reassure Nigerians that he will not stay in office for more than the stipulated time, the President reminded the delegation, led by FCT Minister Mohammed Bello, that while campaigning for the Office of the President, he took the time to visit the country’s 774 local government areas and received overwhelming support from the people.
He added that, despite technological advances, he will be safe in Daura.
