According to IReporter Online, Melaye made his position known during an interview with KAA Truths published on Thursday, saying he places greater importance on his relationship with God than on public opinion.

The former lawmaker said criticism of his lifestyle does not bother him and has no impact on his personal life or financial situation.

Melaye explained that he does not pay attention to comments made about him on social media and therefore does not allow criticism to influence his decisions or activities.

He questioned why he should be concerned about opinions from people whose comments, according to him, have no effect on his daily life, travels or financial position.

The politician also maintained that he would continue sharing pictures of his lifestyle despite criticism from members of the public.

Melaye said he is more interested in what God thinks about him and considers that more important than the opinions of other people.

He further defended his decision to display his houses, properties and other luxury possessions publicly, describing the act as an expression of gratitude to God rather than an attempt to provoke critics.

According to him, whenever he showcases his properties on social media, he usually acknowledges that his achievements are the result of divine grace rather than his personal strength or efforts.

Melaye said he views his public displays of wealth as a form of appreciation for what he described as God’s unmerited favour, particularly considering his background.

He added that rather than being offended when he sees things he admires, he appreciates them and prays to God for the opportunity to acquire similar things.

The ADC chieftain’s comments come amid continued public debate over the display of wealth by politicians and other public figures at a time when many Nigerians are facing economic hardship.
