According to Slimcase, Wizkid has a tendency to hold back the majority of his collaborative tracks with fellow Nigerian artists, leaving fans and industry insiders curious about the fate of these unreleased works.
In a recent interview with Naija FM, Lagos, Slimcase revealed that Wizkid meticulously evaluates each collaboration, listening to the songs multiple times to ensure they meet his stringent standards before considering them for release. This meticulous approach often results in many collaborative efforts with Wizkid never seeing the light of day.
“When you make music with Wizkid, he will let you do your thing without any scrutiny,” Slimcase explained. “Then, in your absence, he can listen to the song like 50 times to know if the song meets his standard. That is why you see artists in the studio with Wizkid and the song never drops.”
Slimcase’s revelation offers a glimpse into the inner workings of the music industry, highlighting the meticulous attention to detail and high standards upheld by artists like Wizkid. While collaborations with the Afrobeat sensation undoubtedly present an invaluable opportunity for Nigerian artists to showcase their talent on a global stage, it appears that only a select few earn the coveted seal of approval from Wizkid himself.
The phenomenon of unreleased collaborations with Wizkid is not an isolated incident. Fellow artist BNXN recently voiced similar frustrations, lamenting that despite collaborating with Wizkid, many of their joint efforts have yet to be released to the public.
As fans eagerly await the next musical offering from Wizkid, Slimcase’s revelation adds an intriguing layer of complexity to the enigmatic artist’s creative process. While his discerning approach may result in fewer collaborative releases, it undoubtedly ensures that each track bearing the Wizkid stamp meets the highest standards of excellence.
